Anytime we talk about Chinese people, we find it not an easy job to describe them on an individual basis, largely because there is hardly anything individual found in their characteristics. What we do find, however, usually to our annoyance, is a collective sentiment that can be best described as both repulsive and apathetic. This fact, I have very good reason to believe may well be the cause of the overall Chinese syndrome that has inflicted such a catastrophic impact on these hapless creatures of the orient and anyone who happens to be in their accompany. Such is the danger of a mob mentality typical to Chinese way of existence, which, if agitated by an evil spirit such as communism, or in worse case, by government-sponsored capitalism, is destined to be a devilish force in effect. This has been the sad reality of China and Chinese people for the past century, a chronicle of crime and punishment, filled with suffering and struggle, hope against despair, as if a drama put on by the Lord Almighty to punish these unworthy heathens….
Largely owing to the incapacity to project power beyond its border, So far the communist regime is not able to seriously hurt anyone besides its own people. Be that as it may, the world should no longer turn a deaf ear to communist China’s horrible record of violation of human rights. The reason is quite simple and straight forward----Chinese people are not different from any other souls roaming on this planet. These people, miserable though they might be, should be considered as part of the whole humanity. Furthermore, neither regime’s impressive but dubious economic record nor longevity can substitute for its political legitimacy which is essentially derived from the consent of the governed. The communist regime may be able to buy its time through bribery to other countries, especially those lured by China’s huge market, but eventually it has to face the challenges in domestic issues. In the meanwhile, it is an accumulation of moral debt for Western countries to continually remain silent on communist China’s crimes against its own people.
One thing puzzles me the most is why it is so hard for these pigheaded Chinese rulers like Mao or Deng Hsiao-ping to accept the simple fact that they do not own the country?
The country belongs to itself. A legitimate government is the one that is elected democratically and supervised by law---a civil law based on a divine law. Communist party must come to a sense that a political party should not assume the ownership of a country and its people. The people, regardless of their color and trait, are children of God.
Even though I feel uncomfortable with the idea of making money in a country where the government does not respect its citizen’s basic human rights, I wish whoever does business here good luck. Just don’t forget it takes more than shrewdness and speculation to make one a great entrepreneur. Alas! The arrogant and ignorant Chinese got it all wrong, for capitalism is more than just being greedy. The capitalistic system-market economy- can not work well and will eventually collapse, if there are no codes and principles serving as its guidance and mechanism. A mansion built on a pile of sand can not stand itself for long, nor can a country devoid of moral concerns be prosperous. And these people will ripe whatever they sow. Only God and time will tell what kind of judgment waiting for them ahead.
Most Chinese communist leaders, including Mao, Zhou en-lai, or Deng Hsiao-ping, Jiang ze-min etc…, had received no decent education by Western standard. As a result, hardly can anyone of them be qualified as a modern politician. They are to the best a bunch of cult leaders camouflaged by a carefully designed communist propaganda, and shrouded in somehow a quasi-religious aura that has been fading. Once this mysterious cover being taken away, as it has been in the recent years, one see underneath it a group of arrogant and ignorant, sometimes uncouth and clumsy, cunning and cruel, villains and criminals. Perhaps it is the time for Chinese people to be presented with truth, the whole truth about this most hideous and preposterous feudal dynasty.
